Compare EPS to 'Standard' Steels
EPS-processed hot roll black strip replaces acid-pickled strip steel, hot roll black (of course) – even cold roll. The visual difference between EPS and these steels is very apparent – EPS-processed steel is dry, remarkably clean and very uniform across its surface.
Take a closer look. You can use the buttons below to view side-by- side comparisons of EPS and these different strip steels. All the samples came from the same coil of steel, so they have the same thickness and chemsistry. The difference is surface treatment:
EPS-processed steel is more than a nice surface - it's a productive surface. In laboratory tests and real world fabrication shops, EPS is demonstrating solid advantages over P&O and even SCS:
- In controlled laser cutting tests EPS dry (no oil) achieved 62% speed increase over the best P&O cutting speed.
- In 1008 hour salt spray tests and paint adhesion tests, EPS samples (dry and oiled) well out-performed SCS samples made from the same base coil.
