Compare EPS To Competing Flat Rolled Steels
EPS-processed hot roll black strip replaces acid-pickled strip steel – both dry and oiled – hot roll black, dry shot blasted strip and SCS. The visual difference between EPS and these steels is very apparent – EPS-processed steel is dry, remarkably clean and very uniform across its surface.
Take a closer look. The slideshows to the right offer a side-by-side visual comparison of EPS and competing steels, as well as performance comparisons. All the samples came from the same coil of steel, so they have the same thickness and chemistry. The difference is the scale removal method.

Because EPS can replace hot roll black, pickled dry, HRPO and SCS, it may allow you to consolidate separate orders for those different steels into a single order for EPS processed material. That lowers inventory carrying costs plus reduces the likelihood that the material you stock will develop rust.
You can even use the EPS process to replace conventional cold roll without cold rolling the material. How? EPS processing of Castrip®. Using Castrip as the feed material gives you the thickness control you typically need cold reduction to achieve. EPS gives you a clean, oil-free, custom-texture surface.
