With its expanding economy and growing emphasis on environmental responsibility, India is an important market for EPS technology,” states TMW President Kevin Voges. “We see LEW as an indispensable partner with a rare combination of the engineering expertise and proven manufacturing capability to deliver high-performing EPS pickling systems.

LEW is part of the Lloyd’s Group which also has interests in iron ore, DRI pellet production and, eventually, in steel production. While evaluating advanced steel processing technologies, Lloyd’s engineers learned of EPS. Lloyd’s Group Chairman, Mukesh Gupta explains, “We found EPS to be very innovative – the benefits of complete pickling without acid cannot be overstated. So we began a dialogue with TMW and made several visits to see the technology in production. When we saw the newest Generation 4 EPS Cell, we were sold.

LEW Sr. Vice President Krishna Gupta adds, “India is a very cost conscious market and that is why EPS is a good fit. The initial setup and construction cost will be at least 20% less than acid pickling. The operating costs will be significantly lower. But the fact that the EPS pickler won’t have to struggle with legal compliances and ongoing issues with acid – that is a huge advantage. And on top of that, the EPS product is simply a better product than acid pickled. Better surface, cleaner and easier to use in fabrication.

Needless to say, we are pleased and proud to now be the sole supplier of EPS systems in India.”
